What does professional security camera installation involve?

Professional security camera installation means a technician surveys your property, designs camera positions around real entrances and blind spots, then installs 4K IP cameras on wired PoE cabling with a recorder sized to your retention needs — tuned, tested and viewable from your phone. Cost scales with camera count and wiring difficulty.

Why upgrade

Coverage is a design question

A camera pointed at nothing proves nothing. Coverage is about entrances, approaches, sightlines and light — decided at the property, not in a catalogue.

We design camera positions around how your property is actually approached — where people arrive, where a lens goes blind at night — then install them with wiring run clean and out of sight.

  • Driveways, entrances and approaches covered deliberately
  • High-resolution footage and night performance planned around the property
  • Remote viewing from your phone, anywhere
  • Recording sized to how long you actually need footage
  • Clean, concealed, weather-rated installation
What we design

Camera systems that hold up

Professional install

How professional security camera installation works — and what it costs

There is no boxed-kit price because "a camera system" can mean a two-camera driveway setup or a full-property build with weeks of retained footage. As an installation company, we quote per camera plus the shared parts — recorder, storage, network — plus the labour to run each cable properly.

1 · On-site survey

We walk the property, find the blind spots a kit would miss, and agree every camera position before a price is quoted.

2 · Clean PoE install

4K IP cameras on labelled Power-over-Ethernet cabling — one cable for power and data, no WiFi dropouts, no plugs at height.

3 · Recorder & retention

An NVR sized to how many days of footage you actually need, set up with secure remote viewing on your phone.

What affects the cost of installing security cameras

Two properties can be quoted thousands apart for honest reasons — mostly cabling. These are the factors that move an install price, roughly in order of impact:

  • Number of cameras — 2–4 key entry points vs. 8–12+ for full-property coverage.
  • Cable runs & labour — the biggest variable: short open-basement runs are quick; fishing wire up a finished two-storey or brick exterior is not.
  • Resolution & retention — 4K and 30+ days of footage across many cameras multiply the storage the recorder needs.
  • Indoor vs. outdoor — weather-rated, vandal-resistant outdoor housings cost more than indoor units.
  • Smart detection — person/vehicle detection and defined zones add capability and cost over plain motion.
  • New system vs. reusing cable — sound existing cabling can often be reused, which lowers the labour line.

A professionally installed camera system is priced around camera count, cabling difficulty, recorder size, storage needs and remote-viewing setup. An on-site look is the only honest way to price cabling because finished homes, brick exteriors, basements and commercial spaces vary widely.

Beyond cameras

Cameras are one layer — we design all of them

Cameras record; alarms detect; access control decides who gets in; the network carries it all. We design the layers together so an alarm event pulls the right camera view and a door event has a face attached.

Commercial cameras

Typical commercial camera scope

Common issue: Older camera systems often miss the areas that matter most: loading doors, rear entries, yards, blind corners and after-hours access points.

Typical solution: We walk the site, map camera views, install 4K PoE cameras on labelled cabling, size the NVR for retention and configure remote viewing.

Expected outcome: Cleaner coverage, easier review and a system that can connect with alarms, access control and the network underneath.

Commercial security camera detail

On a job like this we start by walking the site to find the blind spots the old system missed — the loading doors, the back of the yard, the corners a fixed lens never reached. Then it's 4K PoE cameras on labelled cabling, an NVR sized for the retention the site actually needs, and remote viewing set up so the footage is there the next time it matters.

Questions

Security camera FAQs

Wired or wireless cameras?

Wired PoE for anything that matters — reliability and power in one cable; wireless has narrow legitimate uses and we'll tell you honestly when.

Can I view cameras from my phone?

Yes — remote viewing can be configured for the system, single site or many.

How long is footage kept?

As long as you size for — we spec retention (days to months) to your needs rather than whatever a kit shipped with.

Can cameras work with my alarm?

Yes — camera verification is designed in with smart alarm systems. Explore smart alarm systems →

Do you replace old camera systems?

Yes — we assess existing wiring first; good cable can often be reused, which cuts cost.

What does installation cost?

It scales with camera count and wiring difficulty — a consultation on-site gives you a real number.

How much does it cost to install security cameras?

It depends mainly on the number of cameras and how difficult the cabling is, not on a fixed package price. A system is priced by scope — camera count, cabling difficulty, recorder size, storage and remote-viewing setup. An on-site survey is the only way to price the cabling accurately — read our security camera cost and placement guide for the full breakdown.

Do you install CCTV near me in Brampton?

Yes — we install security cameras and CCTV across Brampton, Mississauga and the wider GTA, for both homes and businesses. Every job starts with an on-site walk of your property so the coverage is designed around your layout, not a generic kit.

Should I install security cameras myself or hire a company?

A DIY wireless kit is fine for a small home or rental with one or two views. For a larger property, weeks of reliable retention, or cameras tied into an alarm, a professional wired install earns its cost — the cabling, angles and recorder are set up right the first time.

What is PoE and why do you use it for cameras?

PoE (Power over Ethernet) carries both power and data over a single cable, so each camera needs one run instead of a separate power outlet at height. It is the standard for reliable outdoor installs — no batteries to recharge and no dependence on WiFi reaching the far corner of the property.

Do you offer camera monitoring?

Monitoring options can be arranged depending on the property and requirements — we'll cover this during your consultation.
